Couple killed in Friday night wreck

A Monticello couple were killed in a Friday night accident whiletraveling westbound on Highway 184 in Lawrence County, officialssaid.
Lawrence County Coroner Sydney Fortenberry said Gordon Neal, 38,and his wife Darlene, 34, were both thrown from the vehicle whentheir pickup truck struck a tree. They were pronounced dead on thescene.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer Sgt. RustyBoyd said the accident occurred at 9:12 p.m. Friday. He said itappeared their 1998 Chevrolet pickup left the right side of theroad.
“Then the vehicle rolled and struck a tree, and both wereejected,” he said.
The accident occurred west of Silver Creek, just before Highway184 and Highway 84 converge, Boyd said.
Boyd and Fortenberry said the accident is still underinvestigation.
“Both bodies were sent for autopsies, and that’s beingprocessed,” Fortenberry said. “I don’t know when we’re getting thatback to know the exact cause of death.”
Officials said the Neals are survived by two daughters, agesunavailable.
Wilson Funeral Home is handling the arrangements, which areincomplete.
