Car theft suspects in custody

Two alleged car thieves from Jackson are behind bars in theLincoln County Jail Thursday morning, officials said.
Zachary Dantzler, 21, and Nicholas Dantzler, 25, both of 3943Skyview Drive Apt. 13H in Jackson, were arrested Wednesday andcharged with grand larceny by the Brookhaven Police Department,Chief Pap Henderson said. They were booked into the jail at 7:10p.m.
Henderson said the two men are charged with stealing a 1985Oldsmobile in Brookhaven while driving a red Jeep that wasreportedly stolen in Jackson. They were apprehended by CopiahCounty and Crystal Springs authorities when they reportedly ran outof gas in both vehicles in Copiah County, Henderson said.

Henderson said his department is grateful to the Copiah CountySheriff’s Department and Crystal Springs Police Department fortheir help in detaining the men until BPD officers could come pickthem up.
“We had put out the bulletin looking for these vehicles, andwe’re grateful we were able to get their help on that,” Hendersonsaid.
What charges the Dantzlers will face is Jackson is not known,Henderson said.
“I don’t know how Jackson’s going to handle it, but I know we’recharging them with grand larceny auto theft,” Henderson said.
In addition, Henderson said, he’s happy the owners of thevehicles had not recently filled their gas tanks.
“I guess that just goes to show a thief needs to look at the gasgauge before he tries to go anywhere in a stolen car,” Hendersonsaid.
