One employee hurt, one jailed in altercation

An altercation at a local check-cashing business ended up withone employee in the hospital and one in jail Thursday afternoon,officials said.
The complaint of a disturbance came from a Speedee Cash employeearound 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Assistant Police Chief Nolan Jones saidFriday morning. The employee had run next door to El SombreroMexican Restaurant for help, and finding none, went on to PaulBarnett Nissan to call for assistance.
Yalanda Johnson, 32, of Carson, was arrested on charges ofaggravated assault in the altercation. An unnamed female employeewas taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center by ambulance.
“It’s still under investigation, and we have people to talk toand quite a bit to do on this,” said Jones.
Johnson was released on bond later Thursday, according to jailrecords.
Jones said more information would be available as theinvestigation continues.
