Robert James ‘Bob’ Allen
Services for Robert James “Bob” Allen, of Brookhaven, will beheld at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, at Riverwood Family FuneralService Chapel with burial in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery inBrookhaven.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mr. Allen, 60, died March 17, 2008, at his residence. He wasborn on May 25, 1947, to James Ray Allen and Sallie Mae DelaughterAllen.
He was an oil field worker and a logger. He was a member of BigSprings Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his sisters, Ann Caseand Shirley Case.
Survivors are his wife, Joann Allen, of Brookhaven; his stepson,Mitchel Hedgepeth, of Jayess; his stepdaughters, Janet Reid andSandra Reeves, both of Monticello, Jane Jackson, Peggy King andJoyce Smith, all of Brookhaven; his brother, Kenneth Allen, ofJayess; his five stepgrandchildren and fourgreat-stepgrandchildren.
Bobby Joe Burt
Services for Bobby Joe Burt, of Hammond, La., will be held onWednesday, March 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Riverwood Family FuneralService Chapel in Brookhaven. Visitation will be from 9 until 11a.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Burt, 75, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008, inHendersonville, Tenn. He was born March 11, 1933, to Eddie Burt andMaude Marie Mullins Burt.
Mr. Burt served as a page under Harry Truman in the U.S.Congress. He was a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University,served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and wasa recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. By occupation,he was a buyer for Dupont Chemical Company in La Place, La. Mr.Burt loved animals, especially his dog “Tiny,” who gave him greatcomfort during his last days on Earth. He also loved to travel andwas very proud to have visited the 48 contiguous United States. Hewas a member of the Protestant faith and First Christian Church inHammond, La., for 67 years.
Preceding him in death was his parents; one brother, CliftonBurt; sister, Catherine Burt; his first wife, Frances Callihan Burtand his second wife Dottie Burt.
Survivors include his daughter, Roxane Atwood and her husbandTim, of Hendersonville; his sister Ida Bess Kneiper, of Houston,Texas, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Lelia Estelle Cupit
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19,2008, in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Lelia EstelleCupit, 88, who died Monday, March 17, 2008, at her residence. TheRev. John White of Southern Care Hospice will officiate.
Interment will be held in Damascus Cemetery in Brookhaven.
Mrs. Cupit, a native of Magnolia, was the daughter of the EdgarGuy and the former Stella Wingate. She had been active asregistered nurse for over 40 years of services and as a homemakerfor more than 60 years of service.
She is survived by her husband, Malcolm L. Cupit, of Broussard;daughters, Ann Melancon and Lauren Elias; son, Edgar Cupit andWayne Cupit; grandchildren, Michael Melancon, Kyle Cupit and NathanFreitag; great-grandchildren, Kellie and Drake Melancon; and hersisters, Mary Lee Hendrick and Sue Oliver.
She was preceded in death by per parents.
Pallbearers will include Nathan Freitag, Ken Elias, MichaelMelancon, and Dwain Melancon.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Tuesday from4 until 8 p.m. and continue Wednesday from 8 a.m. to time ofservices.
