Ollie Mitt Hayes
Services for Ollie Mitt Hayes, of Centreville, are 11 a.m.Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Embrew Baptist Church in Woodville with burialin the church cemetery. Marshall Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.
Mrs. Hayes, 98, died Jan. 10, 2008, at Field Memorial Hospitalin Centreville. She was born on Dec. 9, 1909, in Wilkinson County.Her parents were Ed and Ellen Evans.
Mrs. Hayes confessed Christ at an early age. She was a deaconessat Embrew Baptist Church, a graduate of Lane Hart School andretired from the Wilkinson County School District.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, SidneyMonroe Hayes; one son, Benjamin L. Groom; four grandchildren,Micheal Groom, LaRuth Groom, Patricia Mealey and Larry BenjaminGroom.
Survivors include her son W’Odell Mealey, of Washington, D.C.;one daughter-in-law, Jessie Groom, of Woodville; threegrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sixgreat-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives andfriends.
Martha Gail Martin
Services for Martha Gail Martin, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Wellman Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mrs. Martin, 54, died Jan. 13, 2008, at Regency of Jackson. Shewas born on March 30, 1953, to Leo Nations and Eudell LesterNations.
She was a homemaker and member of Wellman Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and a brother-in-law,Billy Joe Fuller.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Crawford Martin, ofBrookhaven; her son, Randy Martin, of Brookhaven; her daughter,Belinda Boyd and husband, Randy, of Ruth; her brothers, RogerNations and wife, Dora, of Bogue Chitto, and Lamar Nations, ofLouisiana; her sisters, Diane Fuller, of Vicksburg, and Alice Jonesand husband, Jim, of Brookhaven; four grandchildren, Kelsey Martin,of Arizona, Ashley, Lance and Taylor Boyd, of Ruth; and a host ofnieces, nephews and friends.
Maxine Elizabeth Upton
Services for Maxine Elizabeth Upton, of Brookhaven, are 2 p.m.,Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service Chapel withburial in Easthaven Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mrs. Upton, 80, died Jan. 13, 2008, at her residence. She wasborn on July 30, 1927, to Edgar J. Crawford and Myrtle MaxwellCrawford.
She was a homemaker. She served as an active pastor’s wife for31 years with 24 years retired. She lead children’s church, was amember of the women’s ministry, a singer and musician. She was alsoa homemaker. She was a member of Bogue Chitto Assembly of GodChurch.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her sisters, LavonBennett and L’Marie Jarrett; and a brother, Eldrid Crawford.
Survivors are her husband, the Rev. Joel Felix Upton, ofBrookhaven; her sons, Joel Phillip Upton and Mark Barak Upton, bothof Brookhaven; her daughters, Deborah Elizabeth Barfoot, CassieaGay Crawford and Phyllis Bethal Hill, all of Brookhaven; herbrothers, Elvin Crawford, of West Monroe, La., and Melvin Crawford,of Rayville, La.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren andone expected.
Pallbearers are Jeff Barfoot, Eric Barfoot, Brian Barfoot, J.P.Upton, Levi Upton and Michael Hill. Honorary Pallbearer is ThomasBarfoot.
Norman ‘Chuck’ White
Services for Norman “Chuck” White, of Ruth, are 11 a.m. Tuesday,Jan. 15, at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Natchez Avenue with burialin Topisaw Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeralhome.
Mr. White, 49, died Jan. 12, 2008, at his residence. He was bornon March 19, 1958, to David Leroy White and Barbara RutlandWhite.
He was disabled and a member of Topeka Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his father; and a brother, WendellWhite.
Survivors include his mother, Barbara Rutland White, of Ruth;his wife, Roselyn White, of Ruth; his sons, Dennis White and wife,Stacy, of Wesson, and Danny White and wife, Amanda, of Ruth; hisdaughter, Brandy Lynn Givens and husband, B.J., of Brookhaven; hisbrothers, Keith White and wife, Tammy, of Ruth; his children’smother, Melissa Lynne Rowell, of Gulfport; his stepchildren,Christy Baker and Lee Baker, both of Bogue Chitto, and Donnie Bakerand wife, Rebecca, of Brookhaven; and 13 grandchildren.
