Co-Lin takes 2 from Holmes

SUMMIT — Freshman guard Trent Hutchin pumped in 29 points andthe Co-Lin Wolves beat Holmes Community College 76-63 Monday in theSouthwest Invitational. Sophomore guard Corey London chipped in 20points.
In the women’s game, Co-Lin defeated Holmes 76-64, powered byguard Reisha Bullock’s 17 points. Forwards Kristin Ellis and AlishaMason chipped in 14 and 12 points respectively.
Co-Lin continues tournament play today in Southwest MississippiCommunity College’s Horace C. Holmes Gymnasium, meeting DelgadoCommunity College of New Orleans. The women’s game tips off at 1p.m., followed by the men at 3.
In the nightcap, Southwest plays Holmes at 5 and 7 p.m.Southwest beat Delgado’s women’s 89-59 Monday night and the menprevailed 92-76, ending a 3-game skid.
Co-Lin 76, Holmes 63
In a game highlighted by five technical fouls, four on Holmes,the Wolves (3-2) capitalized at the free throw line, making 35 off44. Sophomore center Greg Truvillion contributed 13 points and 11rebounds to the triumph. Truvillion was 13 of 14 at the charityline.
Hutchin, from Baton Rouge, La., sacked 6 of 7 attempts from3-point land as Co-Lin avenged an earlier loss to the Bulldogs.
Holmes (4-1) got 17 points from Brandon Brown and 16 from DiamonAlexander. Kabera Cooper added 12 points.
Co-Lin 76, Holmes 64
The Lady Wolves (4-1) shot a sizzling 58 percent from the fieldin the win over Holmes. They also outrebounded the Lady Bulldogs36-33, led by Mason and Ellis with 7 and 6 reboundsrespectively.
Co-Lin women’s coach Gwyn Young was pleased with the victory.His team expanded a 1-point halftime lead when they exploded for a17-4 run to lead by 14 points. Bullock and Ellis scored 10 pointsapiece in the second half.
Holmes (0-5) got 11 points from Dominique Harris. Ashley Brownand Brittany Flanagan each scored 10 points.
Southwest 92, Delgado 76
Terencio Powell scored 27 points for Southwest and AubreyColeman had 21 for the Bears (3-3)/.
Delgado (0-8) was led by Chris Robinson’s 17 points.
Southwest 89, Delgado 59
The Lady Bears (4-1) got 14 points from Kidra Chatman, KimGriffin and Phenicia Taylor in the win over Delgado.
The Lady Dolphins by Jameca Garrison’s 15 points.
