Wesson, Franklin in homecomings

The unbeaten Wesson Cobras host the St. Andrew’s Saints in a keyRegion 6-2A matchup for homecoming Friday night at Stone Stadium onthe Co-Lin campus. The game kicks off at 7 p.m.

In other area football action, Lawrence County hosts Brookhaven,Jefferson County invades Franklin County for homecoming, North Pikeis at McComb, South Pike travels to Amite County, Collins is atHazlehurst and Crystal Springs is on the road at Magee.

Wesson (5-0, 2-0) is coming off of a big 19-6 region win overthe Enterprise Fighting Yellow Jackets while St. Andrew’s (3-2,1-0) succumbed in a 6-3 defeat at the hands of Madison-RidgelandAcademy.

Even with the loss of standout players Bradford Blackmon atrunning back and Conway Craig at quarterback, St. Andrew’s is ateam to be reckoned with, according to Clopton.

“St. Andrew’s lost lost Blackman and Craig but they are atypical St Andrew’s bunch,” said Wesson head coach Tommy Clopton.”They play extremely hard and smart. They don’t do anything to beatthemselves. They are a lot like us. William Mayfield seems to betheir go-to guy.
