Lady Bears clinch division title

NATCHEZ — Breaking loose on offense, the West Lincoln LadyBears defeated Cathedral 17-7 in slowpitch softball action Tuesday.The 5-inning victory secured the Division 7-1A title for WestLincoln
Coached by Andrew Redd, the Lady Bears (14-11, 5-1) will hostPelahatchie, the Division 6-1A runner-up, next Tuesday in theopening round of the state playoffs. It will be a best-of-threeseries, with all games at West Lincoln.
“I’m really proud of our team,” said Coach Redd. “We really hitthe ball well. It was a suspended game from last week so we pickedit up in the first inning.”
The Lady Bears finished with 23 hits and committed only 1 error.It was the first time in three years for West Lincoln to win thedivision title. Bogue Chitto was the 2-time defending divisionchamp.
West Lincoln plays at Bogue Chitto Thursday, starting at 6 p.m.with a single varsity game.
