Lincoln County teams bow out of subdistrict

NATCHEZ — Lincoln County bowed out of the Dixie Youth BaseballMajor League North Subdistrict Six Tournament Tuesday night. CopiahCounty clipped the Lincoln County National League All-Stars 3-2 andremained alive in the rain-delayed, double-elimination tournamentat Duncan Park.
Once-beaten Copiah faces unbeaten powerhouse Natchez tonight at6 in the championship finals. Natchez beat Wesson 9-2 Tuesday.
The Lincoln County Americans were eliminated Monday by theWesson All-Stars, falling 14-2.

Wesson’s Alex Smith (4 Ks, 4 BBs) pitched the win, giving up 2hits in 4 innings.
Lincoln County’ Jeremy Laird absorbed the loss. He fanned 1batter and walked 4, allowing 3 hits.
Jacob Lea replaced Laird on the mound, giving up 4 hits. TheAmericans committed 5 errors.
The Americans had 2 hits as shortstop Braxton Foster singledtwice.
A double by Corey McPherson paced Wesson. Cullen Greer singledtwice. Tyler Hall, Quentin Munn,Trey Chassion, and Zack Lukesingled.

Copiah plated the winning run in the fifth inning on an RBIsingle.
National League pitcher Houston Case started the game. He waslifted in the first inning and absorbed the setback. Brandon Cannyrelieved Case but sustained an arm injury. Luke Peavey replacedCase and gave up 1 run on 2 hits.
“I started with 12 kids and wound up with nine,” said NationalLeague Manager Kevin Smith, reviewing the tournament. “I had threekey players injured.”
Joey Williams suffered a concussion in the Natchez game. JerrodCase under went knee surgery Monday to repair damage after beinginjured in a play at home plate in last Friday’s opener againstWesson.
The Nationals only had 3 base hits. Genoa Sartin had 2 hits.Second baseman Graham Watson singled.
