Co-Lin men bring down Jones Co.

WESSON — The Co-Lin men were red-hot from the outside Thursdaynight. The Wolves netted 11 treys on their way to taking a 70-53South Division win over the Jones County Bobcats in the final homegame of the regulars season.
Nailing 3-pointers for the Wolves were Darrell Johnson with 4,Julius Blanks with 3, Charles Lewis with 2 and Anthony McDaniel andAnthony Wilcher with 1 apiece.
The Wolves improved to 17-7 overall and 10-4 in the South. TheBobcats fell to 3-21 overall and 1-13 in the South.
Co-Lin is finishes No. 2 and will host the state tournament nextweek.
The Wolves held a 12-point, 36-24, lead over the Bobcats at thehalf. In the second half, Co-Lin outscored Jones County 34-29 topreserve the victory.
“This was the best our guards shot the ball tonight,” saidCo-Lin men’s coach Dennis Sims. “Jones put pressure on us in theinside. Jones did a great job and their coaches had his team readyto play.”
Johnson powered the Wolves with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 4assists. Blanks fired in 11 points followed by Lewis with 10points. Christian Marshall was tops off the backboards with 9rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Marshall and Zach Thomas finishedwith 8 points apiece.
“We competed tonight even though it was our last game,” saidJones County mens coach Kylie Roane. “I have great respect forCoach Sims. We knew Co-Lin is well disciplined and that is what weare trying to build our team as well.”
Ryne Brooks paced Jones County with 165 points, 9 rebounds and 3assists. Collecting 13 points and 4 rebounds was James Bender.Chase Combest netted 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
