Lady ‘Cats dump Lady Jackets

BOGUE CHITTO — The Bogue Chitto Lady ‘Cats howled to a 10-0region win over the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets Thursday night.The game went five innings.
Bogue Chitto improved its record to 14-1 on the season and 6-0in region play. Enterprise fell to 9-11 overall and 2-4 in theregion.
“We hit the ball well,” said Bogue Chitto coach Scott Leggett.”We played great defense. Everyone got a hit.”
Bogue Chitto plays in the North Pike Tournament Saturday, facingLawrence County in the first game at 10:15 a.m.
“We are in a slump,” said Enterprise coach Steve Sasser. “We gotto work ourselves out of it. Bogue Chitto hit the ball. We’ve gotto hit the ball to win games.”
Bogue Chitto out hit Enterprise 13-5 at the plate.
The Lady ‘Cats scored two runs in the first and second inningsthen added three runs in the third and fourth innings.
Powering Bogue Chitto with a home run and a single each wereChelsey Miller and LaToya Braxton. Shaquille Burton singled twice.Doubling was Devon Welch. Candace Avants, Kelli Howard, Dori Hall,Caitlin Owen, Jessie Miller and Blaine Myers.
Braxton was the winning pitcher with no strikeouts and no walks.Nicole Sandifer absorbed the loss, striking out none and walkingtwo.
Singling for Enterprise were Sarah Burke, Lindsey Everett, ErikaRutland, Samantha Richardson and Amanda Burke.
Junior varsity action
Bogue Chitto nipped Enterprise 1-0 in the JV contest.
Josie Porter tripled for Bogue Chitto. Kimberlee Thomas, MikkiMitchell and Hannah Holmes singled.
Hannah Russell singled twice for Enterprise. Robin Douglas andKasey Mathis singled.
The winning pitcher was Toy Smith with one strikeout and sixwalks. Lacey Orr took the loss, walking one and striking outnone.
