Brook girls rip P. Gibson

It took three innings for the Brookhaven Lady Panther slowpitchsoftball team to put away the Port Gibson Lady Blue Waves 15-0 in aRegion 6-4A varsity game Thursday at the Lady Panther SoftballField.
Port Gibson did not have enough junior high players for a juniorvarsity game.
The win improved Brookhaven’s record to 11-4 on the season and4-1 in region play.
Brookhaven plays Saturday in the North Pike Tournament. The LadyPanthers travel to Mendenhall Tuesday for two games.
“It was good to get the district win,” said Brookhaven headcoach Lisa Covington after the game.
Brookhaven jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the bottom of the firstinning, highlighted by an inside-the-park grand slam home run byStevie Ann Wright.
In the second inning, Andrea Graham smashed a soloinside-the-park homer to push the Lady Panthers lead to 13-0.
The Lady Panthers one in the bottom of the third to end thegame.
Contributing to the Brookhaven win with a triple and a singlewas Katie Stewart. Terri Hodges doubled and singled. Doubling wasBrianna Ashmore. Singling were Christi Martin, Karlee Martin, CaryAnne Rake and Wright.
