Services for Cornelius “Buddy” Starks, of Brookhaven, are 11a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Williams Mortuary with burial in PinOak Cemetery in Silver Creek.

Visitation is Tuesday from 1 until 6 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Starks, 87, died Aug. 17, 2006, in Lawrence County. He wasborn on Dec. 23, 1918, to Horace Starks and Carrie HollowayStarks.

He was retired.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wives, BerniceStarks and Estella Starks; his stepsons, Simmie Jones and GeorgeTillman; his stepdaughter, Helen Jones; his brother, FreddieStarks; and his sister, Bernice S. Stewart.

Survivors are his stepdaughter, Dorothy Black, of Chicago, Ill.;his nephews, Sonny Stewart, of Greenville, and Harold Stewart, ofDetroit, Mich.; his niece, Helen Warner, of Jackson; hisgranddaughter and caregiver, Shelia Benjamin and husband EugeneBenjamin, of Brookhaven; his 17 grandchildren and many otherrelatives.
