William O. Baker
Graveside services for William O. Baker, of Summit, are 11 a.m.Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Riverwood Memorial Park. Riverwood FamilyFuneral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Baker, 77, died Aug. 5, 2006, at Southwest MississippiRegional Medical Center. He was born on June 13, 1929, to ConnellBaker and Grace Beicle Baker.
He was a retired government surveyor.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Zimmerman Baker, of Summit,and numerous nieces and nephews.
Daphne D. Hallman
Services for Daphne D. Hallman, of Hazlehurst, were Sunday, Aug.6, at Damascus Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.Stringer Family Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hallman, 60, died Aug. 3, 2006, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of CopiahCounty.
She attended Bob Jones University in South Carolina. She wasretired from the Mississippi Department of Human Services where sheworked as a cashier for 25 years at the Copiah County branch. Shewas a member of Damascus Baptist Church.
Survivors are her husband, Frank Hallman; her sons, DavidHallman and Michael Hallman, both of Gallman; her daughter, DeannaH. Alford and her husband, Billy Alford Jr., of Wesson; her sister,Linda Hall, of Hazlehurst; her grandchildren, Courtney Newman,Leslie Hallman, Hayley Alford, Lindsey Alford and Brady Alford; andhis two great-grandchildren.
Hollis F. Smith
Services for Hollis F. Smith, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m. today,Aug. 7, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in NewProspect Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven.
Mr. Smith, 92, died Aug. 5, 2006, at Haven Hall Health CareCenter in Brookhaven. He was born on Dec. 21, 1913, to ForrestSmith and Sally Watts Smith.
He was a retired gas truck driver for Brookhaven Equipment. Hewas a member and inactive deacon of New Prospect BaptistChurch.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Verna MarieAllgood Smith; his son, Ted Smith; and his brothers, Robert Smithand Willard Smith.
Survivors are his sons and their wives, Lamar and Ann Smith, ofGonzales, La., John Garry and JoBeth Smith, of Monticello, and Mikeand Susan Smith, of Gonzales, La.; his sister, Vera Ballard, ofBrookhaven; his special friend and caretaker, Ruth Prather; and hisseven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
