SW Babe Ruth All-Stars finish second

MERIDIAN — The Southwest Mississippi Babe Ruth League13-year-old All-Star team finished second in the State Tournamentheld on July 14-16. The Coaches were Rick Taylor, Alney Cook andCraig Hodges.
Team members from Pike and Amite Counties included Revis Butler,Rusty Eisworth, Kendric Hodges, Seth James, Jake Martin, hunterMcCullough, Hunter Travis, Jordan Taylor and Nathan Taylor. LincolnCounty was represented by Nick Peavey at catcher, Gabe Wilson atthird base/outfield and Patrick Valentine at secondbase/outfield.
In Friday’s opening game, Southwest defeated Long Beach 15-2 ina game shortened by the 10-run rule. Kendric Hodges was the winningpitcher. Later Friday, Southwest defeated Pascagoula 16-11. A RevisButler home run highlighted the game. Jake Martin got the win onthe mound.
On Saturday night, Orange Grove took a hard fought 5-1 victoryin a winner’s bracket game. Hodges pitched well in defeat.
The Southwest All-Stars defeated Pascagoula in an eliminationgame on Sunday afternoon in an 11-9 thriller. Martin got the win inrelief. Sunday evening, Orange Grove rallied for a run in thebottom of the seventh inning for a 10-9 win in the championshipgame.
