Services for Juanita Ferrington Adams, of Brookhaven, are 11a.m. Monday, July 10, at Brookway Baptist Church with burial in NewSight Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.
Visitation is today from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Adams, 89, died July 7, 2006, in McComb. She was born inWisner, La., on Dec. 13, 1916, to Victor Posey Ferrington andVermelle Blackman Ferrington.
She was a retired teacher for the Brookhaven Public Schools for25 years. She was a charter member of Brookway Baptist Church whereshe was a Sunday school teacher and a pianist for many years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, William M.Adams; her son, Victor Raymond Gravelle; and her brother, V.P.Ferrington.
Survivors are her son, William “Bill” M. Adams Jr. and his wife,Sherry, of Brookhaven; her daughter, Leanne Summers and her husbandGordon, of Brookhaven; her grandchildren, Dustin Walker, NicholasAdams, Brendon Adams, Ryan Adams, Rusty Gravelle, Connie Gravelle,all of Brookhaven, and Shan Walker, of Richland; and sevengreat-grandchildren.

Services for Simmie Benjamin, of Silver Creek, were 2 p.m.Saturday, July 8, at Alexander Auditorium with burial in CarverHeights Cemetery. Laird Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Benjamin, 51, died July 3, 2006, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center. He was born on April 9, 1955, to L.C. Benjamin andElla Mae Benjamin.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
Preceding him in death was his father.
Survivors are his mother; his wife, Erma Jean Benjamin, ofSilver Creek; his son, Temarcus Lewis; his daughters, ChasityBenjamin, Tiffany Davis Robinson, Nancy Daniel and Tiffany Haley;his brothers, Lawrence Benjamin, Bruce Benjamin and JosephFranklin; his sisters, Doris Coleman, Betty Griffin, MarjorieBenjamin and Danita Brown; and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Douglas, 93, died July 6, 2006, at New Dawn RetirementCenter in Ruth. She was born in Lincoln County.
She was a legal secretary with several lawyers in Brookhavenbefore moving to Jackson, where she worked for the Supreme CourtJudges until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of Alta WoodsBaptist Church in Jackson and First Baptist Church ofBrookhaven.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband, James L. Douglas,and her sisters, Faith Fite, of Vicksburg, and Doris Dean, ofJackson.
Survivors are her daughter, Diane Tanksley and her husband,Kenneth, of Lorman; her brother, Sam Bolian and his wife, Mary, ofParkersburg, W.Va.: her grandchildren, Debra Jackson and herhusband, Rust, of Natchez, and Doug Tanksley and his wife Glenda,of Lorman; four great-grandchildren; and onegreat-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Laird, 76, died July 6, 2006 at her home. She was born onJan. 24, 1930, to Lucien L. Smith and Naomia Stewart Smith.
She was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County, who was raised inthe Enterprise community and lived her adult life in West Lincoln.She was retired from Jacobson Manufacturing. She was also a memberof New Prospect Baptist Church. On March 24, 1948, she marriedHarold Laird. She was loved by all that were blessed to knowher.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, R.E.Smith, Harvey D. Smith and Harold Estus Hemphill.
Survivors are her sons, Randy Laird and his wife, Mary, of WestLincoln, and Russell Laird and his wife, Sandra, of Brookhaven; herdaughter, Theresia Freeman and her husband, Roy, of Starkville;seven grandsons; four granddaughters; and many loved neices andnephews.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice and New ProspectChurch Fund.

Mr. Powell, 56, died July 4, 2006 at his home in Jackson. He wasborn on March 21, 1950, to Alberta Powell Patterson.
He was a construction worker.
Preceding him in death was his brother, Ray Powell, and hisgrandparents, Dennis and Louise Powell.
Survivors are his mother, of Brookhaven; his sisters, PauletteByrd and Addie Maxwell, both of Brookhaven; his aunts, Jessie MaeScott, Mary Lyons, Inez Kelly, all of Brookhaven, Dora Montgomery,of Chicago, and Marie Hilson, of Cham; his uncles, Hollis Powell,Marco Culver and Israel Culver, all of Brookhaven; and many nieces,nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Mrs. Green, 67, died June 10, 2006, at Huntington BeachHospital. She was born on Feb. 1, 1939, to Abe Green Sr. and BeulahMae Green.
She was retired. She was a member of the Church of ReligiousScience.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, JamesWilliams; and her sisters, Lizzie Green and Roxie Sanders.
Survivors are her brother, Abe Green Jr., of Huntington Beach;her sisters, Alberta Green, Luberta Thomas, both of HuntingtonBeach, Irma Green, of San Bernardino, Calif., Katheleen Crump andMarietta Fields, both of Brookhaven; and many aunts, uncles,nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mr. Burril, 79, died July 7, 2006, at Kings Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born on Sept. 11, 1926, to Bert Benjamin Burril andVertha Vivian Castello Burril.
He was retired from Entex Gas Co.. He was a member of MacedoniaBaptist Church. He was also a veteran of the U. S. Navy duringWorld War II, where he served on the U.S.S. Bulcan, one of thefirst ships to go into Hiro-Shima after the Atomic Bomb. He wasalso a member of the Rotary Club, Lions Club, Brookhaven Masonicand Blue Lodge.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, BennieBurril, Leslie Burril and Fred Burril; and his son-in-law, DannyAllen.
Survivors are his wife, Doris Lynn McCrary Burril; hisdaughters, Judy Allen, of Brookhaven, Suzi Smith and her husband,Ken, of Natchez, Patti Johnson and her husband, Alan, of WestPoint, and Bobbye Carpenter and her husband Jim, of Brandon; hisbrothers, Melvin Burril, of Belair, Md., Ed Burril, of Pascagoula,Bert Arthur Burril, of Orange Grove, and Tommy Burril, of LongBeach; his sisters, Doris Marie Schouder, of Gulfport, and ClaraNell Dubuisson, of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; 11great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.
