Peoples Bank claims Co-Lin Corporate Cup

WESSON — Peoples Bank of Franklin shot a sizzling 19-under 53to win the Corporate Cup in Thursday’s 13th Annual Co-LinFoundation Tournament at the Wolf Hollow Golf Club. The team ofAnthony (Poochie) Kent, Raymond Steele, Randy Martin and Eric Smithaccounted for 15 birdies, two eagles and one par on a swelteringafternoon.

Co-Lin president Dr. Howell Garner thanked the participants fortheir contributions to the Foundation. Richard Furr, a 1978 Co-Lingraduate and president of State Bank & Trust Co. in Brookhaven,served as the honorary starter. Furr was instrumental in creatingthe annual tournament.

Bank of Franklin, represented by Bo Coney, Jeremy Albritton andBraxton and Jennifer Whitehead, claimed the lot gross score with a55. Valley Services, featuring the quartet of Elmer McInnis, JimWatt, Allen Kent and Craig Hennington, won the low net title with a52.

Gatlin Corp captured the a.m. title with a morning score of 60.The group included Ray Ishee, Alton Greenlee, Ronnie Channel andDavid Smith.

On course prizes went to four golfers. They were Scotty King,closest to pin on No. 4; Darrell Morse, closest to pin on No. 14;Allen Kent, longest drive on No. 2; and Craig Hennington, longestputt on No. 9.
