BA girls take 3rd in state

Brookhaven Academy’s Lady Cougars finished third in Saturday’sMPSA State Slowpitch Softball Tournament. The Lady Cougars weredefeated by state champion McComb Parklane Academy, falling 7-3 tothe Lady Pioneers.
Brookhaven Academy (12-11), coached by Ricky Allen, lost tostate runner-up Amite School Center 16-3 and was eliminated after 5tournament games. The Lady Cougars beat Jackson Academy 9-5 intheir first test, Central Academy 5-4 in the second round andHeidelberg Academy 9-7 in the third round before meetingParklane.
Parklane 7, Brookhaven 3
Lindsey Nations was Brookhaven’s pitcher of record in all 5games, going 3-2 on the mound. Katie Watson led BA at the platewith a double and 2 singles. Maddie Allen collected 3 singles.Summer Calhoun had 2 hits.
Also hitting safely for Brookhaven were Katie Nettles, EmilyLangley, Kelli Snider and Anna Jolley.
Amite 16, Brookhaven 3
Allen homered and singled in the Cougars’ loss to Amite SchoolCenter. Watson and Snider both had 2 hits and Langley doubled.Laura Lucas and Jolley singled.
The Lady Rebels scored 8 first-inning runs and nevertrailed.
Brookhaven 9, Heidelberg 7
Nettles and Allen each had 2 hits and 3 RBIs in the victory.Watson and Nations had 2 hits. Jolley, Langley, Calhoun, KellieBrady and Anna Katelyn Mangold singled as BA erased a 7-0,4th-inning deficit.
Brookhaven 5, Central 4
Langley homered and accounted for 3 RBIs in the triumph. Allendoubled and singled. Brady, Case and Jolley singled..

Allen had 3 doubles and 3 RBIs in the win over JA. Watson added3 singles and 4 RBIs. Jolley and Snider had 2 hits apiece. Case andNettles singled.
