A Bogue Chitto woman died Saturday morning in a two-vehicleaccident on Highway 24 outside McComb, a Highway Patrol officialsaid.

According to Mississippi Highway Patrol Staff Sgt. Rod Crawford,Melanie V. Russell, 43, of 1007 Hunters Road SE, Bogue Chitto, wastraveling in the westbound lane and attempted to make a left turninto a private driveway when a commercial Kenworth truck slammedinto the back of her 1997 Nissan pickup.

The truck, owned by Castellini Trucking of Wilder, Ky.,rear-ended Russell as she was making her turn, Crawford said.

The truck was driven by Anthony L. White, 35, of Gretna, La.,who was trying to pass Russell, Crawford said.

Crawford said Russell was pronounced dead by a medical examinerat the scene of the accident.
