James T. Broome
Graveside services for James T. Broome, of Zachary, La., are 2p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Sumrall.Brookhaven Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Broome, 73, died Nov. 12, 2005, at his residence. He wasborn in Jackson on Feb. 13, 1932, to Lonnie Broome and LennieHorton Broome.
He had lived in Zachary for the past two years, but hadpreviously lived in Baton Rouge since 1957. He was a retired pipefitter with the Local 198 and was a 32nd-Degree Mason.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Mable Broome, of Zachary.;his sons, Lonnie Dale Broome, of Zachary, and Danny Ray Broome, ofGonzales, La.; his sister, Lessie Merle Newcomb, of Huntsville,Ala.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a numberof cousins, who were like his brothers and sisters.
Hollis J. Cowen Jr.
Services for Hollis J. Cowen Jr., of Wesson, are 11 a.m.Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Brookhaven Funeral Home with burial in theWesson Cemetery.
Visitation is today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 11a.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Cowen, 60, died Nov. 12, 2005, at his residence. He was bornin Hammond, La., on Aug. 6, 1945, to Hollis J. Cowen Sr. and BelleVinyard Cowen.
He was a longtime resident of Wesson, where he was a retiredautomobile salesman and former alderman of 19 years. He was amember of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Survivors are his parents, Belle Vinyard Cowen and Hollis J.Cowen Sr., both of Wesson; his wife, Sonya White Cowen, of Wesson;his son, Trey Cowen, of Wesson; and his daughter, Katerina CowenSmith and her husband, Lane, of Hattiesburg.
Ruthie Lee Tarver
Graveside services for Ruthie Lee Tarver, of Centerville, Ala.,are 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 at New Prospect Baptist Church.
Visitation is Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookhaven FuneralHome.
Mrs. Tarver, 95, died Nov. 12, 2005, at Bibb Medical CenterNursing Home in Centerville. She was born in Franklin County on May8, 1910, to George Jackson and Jane Rushing Jackson.
She was a member of the Baptist faith.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Versie Tarver; herdaughters, Alice Gonzales and Judy Parsley; and a son, Robert LeonTarver.
Survivors are her daughters, Edith Black and her husband, Dale,of Centerville, and Marie Byrd and her husband, Robert, of Opelika,Ala.; her sister, Sarah Newton, of Brookhaven; seven grandchildren;and five great-grandchildren.
