Weste Lincoln in homecoming test

The winless West Lincoln Bears celebrate homecoming Friday nightagainst the Region 4-1A Stringer Red Devils at Perry Miller Field.The game begins at 7 p.m.
In other Lincoln County Region 4-1A games, Bogue Chitto invadesMt. Olive and Enterprise is at Gulfport St. John. Loyd Star travelsto Hinds AHS for Region 6-2A.
Bogue Chitto, coached by Gareth Sartin,improved its region record to 3-3 and 3-4 in overall play afterdumping Salem 18-14 last Friday. Undefeated Mt. Olive (7-0, 5-0)crushed region newcomer Gulfport St. John 28-6.
“Mt. Olive is tough and they’re No. 1 in the state,” saidSartin. “They have size and tons of speed. Their quarterback,Pierrie Feazell, is exceptional.
“On defense, they like to hit you,” Sartin added. “We must beable to run the ball and control the clock.”
In the win over Salem, the Bogue Chitto air game was directedfreshman quarterback Seth Avants who completed 8 of 18 passes for183 yards, two touchdowns and two pass interceptions. Mario Addisoncaught five passes for 127 yards. Avants was named The DAILY LEADEROffensive Player of the Week.
Cedric Washington led the Bobcat ground game with 20 carries for110 yards. C.J. Tate intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble.
Enterprise, coached by Roe Burns, returns tothe Gulf Coast to visit Gulfport St. John in another big regionmatchup. The Fighting Yellow Jackets fell to the Mercy CrossCrusaders 44-14 last Friday night.
Gulfport St. John (5-1, 5-1) fell to Mt. Olive 28-6 lastFriday.
The Jackets (4-3, 4-2) were directed by Terrell May with 23carries for 180 yards in the loss to Mercy Cross. Blake McKeefinished with 13 carries for 40 yards.
On defense, Chris Moak directed Enterprise with eight tackles.May followed with seven stops.
Loyd Star, coached by Josh Thibodeaux, has atough game ahead as the Hornets meet undefeated Region 6-2Apowerhouse Hinds AHS (8-0, 3-0). Loyd Star (1-5, 0-3) dropped a24-10 decision to Madison St. Joe last Friday. Hinds AHS whippedregion foe Amite County 62-8.
In the loss to St. Joe, Michael Britt paced the Hornets with 67yards on eight carries. Tyler Williford and Jarred Rogers combinedat quarterback to complete 8 of 17 passes for 103 yards and twopass interceptions.
West Lincoln, coached by Brooks Burns, is stilllooking for its first win of the season when the Bears entertainStringer (3-4, 3-3). Burns’ Bears are 0-7 on the season and 0-6 inregion play.
Stringer is coming off a 24-14 region victory over NatchezCathedral.
