Services for Altha Mae Clay Sidney, of Brookhaven, are 11 a.m.Monday, Oct. 24 at Kynett United Methodist Church with burial inHillcrest Cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.Family hour will be from 6 to 7 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Sidney, 92, died Oct. 19, 2005, at Haven Hall Health Care.She was born in Copiah County on May 12, 1913, to Samuel Clay andBeatrice Clay.
She was a retired teacher in the Copiah County School system,where she taught for 31 years. She was a member of Kynett UnitedMethodist Church. She was a graduate of Parrish High School inHazlehurst and a 1959 graduate of Alcorn College.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, James A.Sidney Sr. and Sylvester Kelly; her son, James A. Sidney Jr.; hersisters, Addie Patterson and Hattie Killingsworth; her brother,Henry Clay, Carlos Q. Clay and Samuel Clay Jr.; and several niecesand nephews.
Survivors are her daughter, Gloria Poole, of Brookhaven; hersons, Meredith Sidney and his wife, Alma, of Los Angeles, Calif.,and Cornelius Sidney, of Springfield, Mass.; nine grandchildren; 10great-grandchildren; a loving and devoted niece, MarionKillingsworth Shaw, of Chicago, Ill.; and other nieces.
