A memorial service for Margaret Jones, of Jackson, are 12:30p.m. Saturday, July 23 at Galloway Memorial United MethodistChurch. The Family will hold a private graveside serve in LakewoodMemorial Park. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Mrs. Jones, 97, died July 21, 2005, at Mississippi BaptistMedical Center.

She was a native of Franklin, Tenn., before she came to Jacksonin 1932 following her marriage to C. Edmonson Jones, formervice-president of Mississippi Power & Light Company, whopreceded her in death in 1983. Her son, Dr. Ed Jones, died in1999.

Mrs. Jones received a bachelor of science degree from GeorgePeabody College in Nashville. She taught school in Brookhaven priorto her marriage.

She was a dedicated and active member of Galloway MemorialMethodist Church. In 1963, she was the first woman elected to theAdministrative Board. At the time of her death she was an honorarymember of the board. Mrs. Jones served twice as president for 10years and a charter member and past president of the AltarGuild.

She was president of the YWCA in the 1950s during constructionof its building at the corner of North State and Yazoo streets(which is now occupied by the Old Capitol Inn) and a member of itsboard for 12 years. Mrs. Jones was a member and past president ofthe Monday Luncheon Club.

Survivors are her three grandchildren, Charlie Jones, ofJackson, Yancey Jones, of New Orleans, and Lindsey Ziegler, ofEureka, Calif.; three great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, SamJones, of Brookhaven; two nieces, Molly Lea, of Clearwater, Fla.,and Carol Porter, of Raleigh, N.C.; and a nephew, P.Z. Jones Jr.,of Jackson and Carthage.

Memorials may be made to Galloway Memorial Methodist ChurchAltar Guild or to a favorite charity.
