Services for George Washington Lewis, of Natchez, are 2 p.m.,Sunday, May 29 at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel in Natchezwith burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The services will beconducted by Elder Gerald Williams and Jerry L. Britt.

Visitation is Sunday from noon until 2 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Lewis, 79, died May 27, 2005, at Natchez Regional MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on Dec. 22, 1925, to T.D. andEthel Smith Lewis.

He was a Navy veteran with service in World War II in some ofthe fiercest naval battles of the Pacific. He was retired fromJohns Manville after 42 years of service.

Preceding him in death were his parents; seven brothers; andthree sisters.

Survivors are his sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and AnnetteLewis, and Tommy Lewis; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Prentissand Annie Lewis, and Eugene and Genie Lewis; his sisters-in-law,Adell Lewis and Fannie Lee Lewis; his grandchildren andgrandchildren-in-law, Michael George and Misty Lewis, Dana Lewis,and Eric and Cassey Gulley; one great-grandson, Colton DanielLewis; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and hisfriend, Catherine Davis and her family.

Pallbearers will be Leon Comeaux, Lamar Curry, Bill White,Mickey Lawrence, Chris Jordan, Michael George Lewis, Bubba May,Mike Skates, and Thomas Clyde Hancock.

Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Williams, Melvin Williams,members of Salem Primitive Baptist Church; Mississippi FoxhuntersAssociation; and all his many hunting and fishing buddies.
