Memorial services for L.T. Guess, of N. Manchester, Ind., are 10a.m. Wednesday, May 25 in Timbercrest Chapel. Private burial ofashes will be in Maryville, Tenn. Northeast Indiana CremationSociety is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is May 25 from 9-10 a.m. at the chapel.
Mr. Guess, 93, died May 9, 2005, at Wabash County Hospital. Hewas born in Lincoln County on Aug. 23, 1911, to John Warren Guessand Nanette Jane Kyle Guess.
He was a graduate of Brookhaven High School in 1929 andMississippi State University in 1934. He worked for MississippiPower in Gulfport. He earned a MSEE degree from Purdue University.He worked on construction of US Steel’s Irvin Works. He was thenemployed by ALCOA in Alcoa, Tenn., Massena, N.Y., Newark, Ohio, andPittsburgh, Pa., for a total of 33 years. After retiring from ALCOAhe worked for Anixter Inc., in Pittsburgh, then lived in Arizona,Hawaii and Texas, before moving to Indiana in August 2001.
He was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. He was a member ofthe American Hemerocallis Society and the Pittsburgh Iris andDaylily Society. He was active in leadership of the Boy Scouts ofAmerica for 16 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; five sisters; fourbrothers; his first wife, Virginia; his daughter, Kristin; and hissecond wife, Betty.
Survivors are his son Victor L. Guess and his wife, Lois, ofFort Wayne, Ind.; his granddaughter, Carol Guess, of Fort Wayne;three nieces; and five nephews.
