Supervisors OK street widening

Work is expected to begin soon on a project to widen CenterStreet to two full lanes.
Supervisors Monday authorized the construction company toproceed with the project after signing utility servicecontracts.
The project to widen Center Street between Beltline Road andSouth Street was begun three to four years ago, County EngineerCarl Ray Furr said.
The Center Street work is a State Aid project administered bythe county. The city is funding the project with 20 percent, or$268,000, in matching funds, Furr said.
