King no-hits Jackson Jim Hill; Panthers romp to 11-1 victory

Brookhaven freshman Paxton King authored his first win of theseason Friday night against the Jackson Jim Hill Tigers, at MoyerField. King tossed a no-hitter in the Panthers’ 11-1 Division 6-4Avictory over the visiting Tigers in 5 innings.
Brookhaven posted a 15-1 win over Jim Hill in the JV game.
The Panthers play Jim Hill Monday at Jackson’s Battlefield Park,in a make-up game from a March 8 rainout. The varsity game beginsat 5 p.m.; followed by the JV game.

King (1-2), a transfer from Brookhaven Academy, allowed anearned run, issued 2 walks and fanned 8 Tiger batters.
“Coach (Randy) Spring told me to just throw strikes,” said King.”Jim Hill has a good team.”
Ole Brook skipper Randy Spring echoed King’s compliments for theTigers.
“Jim Hill has a good ballclub,” said Spring. “They gave us agood game tonight. Paxton pitched a good game tonight.”
The Panthers opened the scoring in their half of the first for a2-0 advantage. Senior centerfielder Darius Perkins doubled. Firstbaseman Grant McDonnieal reached on an error. Designated hitterGarion Crockett singled to score Perkins and McDonnieal.
Jim Hill scored its lone run of the night in the top of thefourth. Pitcher Rafael Jackson walked, stole second and moved tothird on a passed ball. Jackson later scored, as Daniel Murrygrounded out on a sacrifice play to the pitcher.
Springs’ squad increased their lead to 5-1 in the bottom of thefourth. Crockett doubled, and went to third on the sacrifice buntby Brandt Hinton. Third baseman Mitch Pappas reached on an errorthat allowed Crockett to score. Catcher Cole Newell singled toscore Pappas. King’s sacrifice bunt scored Newell.
Ole Brook evoked the 10-run rule in the fifth, sending 11batters to the plate and scoring 6 runs. Perkins, Hinton, Pappasand King each singled in the inning. Perkins, McDonnieal, Crockett,Hinton, Pappas and King scored.
Jackson, who suffered the loss for the Tigers, hit Perkins andMcDonnieal consecutively to bring in Pappas and King for thewinning runs. He allowed 11 runs (9 earned) on 9 hits, with 2walks, and 3 strikeouts on 93 pitches.
“We got some good hits and runs tonight,” added Spring. “Westarted slow, but picked it up at the end.”
Leading the Ole Brook offensive was Perkins, who singled,doubled and scored twice. Crockett singled, doubled, scored twiceand had 2 RBIs.
