St. Andrew’s leads All-Region team

Region 6-2A champion St. Andrew’s, led by Overall Most ValuablePlayer Bradford Blackmon, paces the 2004 dream team. Blackmonaccounted for 35 touchdowns and 3 extra points, giving him a totalof 216 points for the Saints who finished 11-1. He rushed for 1,846yards and 27 TDs.
Recognized as Coaching Staff of the Year was St. Andrew’s, underthe direction of head coach David Bradberry.
Austin Divinity of Hinds AHS was selected MVP Offensive Playerby region coaches. Kevin Quick of region runner-up McLaurin wasnamed MVP Defensive Player. MVP Special Teams awards went to RyanOdom of McLaurin and George Malouf of Madison St. Joseph.
St. Andrew’s landed 7 players on the First Team and 7 more onthe Second Team.
Wesson placed 3 players on the First Team in Bobby Harris,John-Michael Cliburn and Phillip Freeman. Second team honors wentto Brian Channell, Sydney Thompson and Ryan Causey.
Receiving Honorable Mention from Wesson were Landen Beasley,Blake Brister, Mack Jackson, Cory Pucket, Benton Bell and JoshSanders.
Linebacker Michael Britt and cornerback Garry Johnson representLoyd Star on the First Team. Britt accounted for 109 tackles andmade 2 interceptions this season. Johnson intercepted 3 passes andwas credited with 80 tackles.
Loyd Star’s Second Team honors went to Jared Rogers and DonaldShorter. Honorable Mention went to Gayden Smith, Moses Tillman andHunter Speeg.
