Services for Eloise “Hallelujah” Guess Brown of Brookhaven are10 a.m., Wednesday, April 28, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapelwith burial in Easthaven Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday from 5-9 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Brown, 90, died April 24, 2004, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Brookhaven on June 18, 1913, to Edward B.Guess and Sarah Love Guess.
Eloise graduated from Brookhaven High School, attended WhitworthCollege and Mississippi State College for Women. She was a memberof First United Methodist Church most of her life. After workingwith the Mississippi Employment Commission, she became a full-timemissionary devoting her life to teaching everyone she met aboutJesus and His love. This led her to a prison ministry here andthroughout the state. She cared for many foster children, teens andadults and gave them unconditional love. Eloise had been living atBeverly Healthcare the past 11 1/2 years where she held Biblestudies and devotionals as long as she was able. There is no way toknow the number of lives she touched; there are people throughoutthe United States and overseas who have been blessed by knowing”Hallelujah” Brown. Her family and friends are so thankful thatJesus shared her with us.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert W.Brown Jr.; her sister, Sadie Guess Warren; and her brothers, EdwardB. Guess Jr. and George Guess.
Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. “Bob” BrownIII and wife Cathy of Brookhaven; her daughter and son-in-law,Beverly Gulledge and husband George of Centerville; her foster son,Raymond Fairchild of Brookhaven; her grandchildren, Phillip Brownand wife Lacey, and Rebecca Chambers and husband Mark, all ofBrookhaven, and Shawn Gulledge of Centerville; hergreat-grandchildren, Gage Brown, Lindsey Chambers and CodyGulledge; and a special friend, who was like a granddaughter, DonnaJo Ferrell.
