Bogue Chitto woman dies in Friday wreck

A Bogue Chitto woman died Friday evening in Jackson after beinginjured in a one-vehicle accident in Lincoln County earlier in theday, said Coroner-Medical Examiner Clay McMorris.
Katie W. McCaffery, 63, of 3060 Muise Lane, was a passenger in a1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by her grandson Eric Wallace, 19,of Bogue Chitto, that crashed around 7:20 a.m. Friday on SummitDrive.
“She passed away late last night,” McMorris said Saturday.
The jeep was traveling south on Summit Drive about two milessouth of Arlington Drive.
McMorris said Wallace apparently lost control of the vehiclewhile reaching for an item and left the road on the right side. Inreacting to going off the road, he overcompensated and went off theroad on the left side, striking a culvert and turning over.
McCaffery was taken to Southwest Mississippi Regional MedicalCenter and then airlifted to the University Medical Center inJackson. McCaffery was pronounced dead around 9:45 p.m. Friday,McMorris said.
Wallace and another grandson, Joshua Pauli, of Magnolia, Texas,who was riding the backseat, were taken to the McComb hospital,McMorris said. They were treated and released.
Catchings Funeral Home in McComb is in charge of arrangementsfor McCaffery. Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, withburial in Moak’s Creek Cemetery.
