Berchie A. Alexander

Services for Berchie A. Mulford Alexander of McComb are 11 a.m.,Monday, March 1, at Calvary Baptist Church in Pricedale with burialin the church cemetery. Catchings Funeral Home in McComb is incharge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Alexander, 89, died Feb. 28, 2004, at her daughter’sresidence in McComb. She was born in Walthall County on Oct. 6,1914, to Walter Mulford and Vennie Thornhill Mulford.

She was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of CalvaryBaptist Church in Pricedale, where she was a member of the AdultLadies Sunday School Class.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Reuben L.Alexander; three sisters, Ina Lee Reid, Ouida Wren and BerniceMagee; a brother, Vasco Mulford; an infant son; and agranddaughter.

Survivors are her daughters, Louise Marbury of McComb and RubyWicker of Sallis; her sons, Grady Alexander of Fernwood, WilliamEarl Alexander of McComb, and Roland Alexander of Pricedale; asister, Juanita Huhn of Tylertown; her brothers, Elton Mulford ofBrookhaven and E.J. Mulford of Enon; 19 grandchildren; 31great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerousnieces and nephews.

Bennie Sue Case

Services for Bennie Sue Case of Ellisville are 2 p.m., Sunday,Feb. 29, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inPhiladelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the funeralhome.

Ms. Case, 61, died Feb. 27, 2004, at South Central MedicalCenter in Laurel. She was born in Lincoln County on Jan 19, 1943,to Bennie Case and Luna Smith Case.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are a sister, Linda Faye Case of Ellisville; herbrothers, Leston Case, Carroll Case and Ray Case, all ofBrookhaven, and Thomas Case of Praireville, La.; and a host ofnieces and nephews.

Evelyn Griffith Marshall

Services for Evelyn Griffith Marshall of Roxie are noon, Sunday,Jan. 29, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Hamburg with burial in thechurch cemetery. Marshall Funeral Home is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Sunday from 10 a.m. until noon, at the church.

Mrs. Marshall, 50, died Feb. 26, 2004, at Natchez. She was bornin Franklin County on Oct. 25, 1953, to Danny Griffith and EloyceByrd.

She was a retired teacher. She was a member of Bethlehem BaptistChurch. She was a member of Mt. Olive Chapter #9 of the EasternStar and Adah Grand Chapter OES of the Eastern Star.

Preceding her in death were her father and grandparents.

Survivors are her husband, August Marshall Jr. of Hamburg; herdaughters, Ashley Marshall and Trinetta Johnson; a sister, Linda B.Washington; her brothers, Thomas Griffith, James Griffith, andJohnny Griffith; and a grandson, Jaylan Le’ Andre Johnson.

Carrie Laverne Smith

Services for Carrie Laverne Smith of Harahan, La., were 4 p.m.,Saturday, Feb. 28, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Smith, 61, died Feb. 22, 2004, at her residence. She wasborn in Lincoln County on March 17, 1942, to W. Vernon Smith andIva Pearl Case Smith.

She was a registered nurse at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleansand later became a case manager.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and SteveCatalano of Harahan, La., Melissa Stoufflet of New Orleans; hersisters, Margaret Watts of Denham Springs, La., Imer Jean Kimble ofVicksburg, Nita Smith and Betty Walker, both of Brookhaven; abrother, C. Marcell Smith of Brookhaven; her grandchildren, BriceCatalano, Collin Catalano, Allie Catalano, and Russell Guidroz; ahost of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Jerry Smith.
