Services for Rufus Hayes of Brookhaven are 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb.1, at Bethel Temple United Pentecostal Church with burial in thechurch cemetery. Community Funeral Services is in charge ofarrangements.

Visitation is Saturday beginning at 10 a.m., at the church.

Mr. Hayes, 86, died Jan. 30, 2004, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on March 21, 1917, to WillieRobert Hayes Sr. and Ella Lofton.

He was retired from Hayes Oil Field and Construction. He was amember of Bethel Temple United Pentecostal Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and seven siblings,Willie Hayes Jr., Lillian Burns, Addie Case, Ruby Bailey, MaryForbes, Ada Case and Eloise Delaughter.

Survivors are his wife, Mattie Givens Hayes; his daughters, NellBaham of Amite, La., and Barbara Munn and Mickey Russell, both ofBrookhaven; his sons, Edward Hayes and Joe Hayes, both ofBrookhaven; his brother, Clyde Hayes of Natchez; 14 grandchildren;and 22 great-grandchildren.
