BA teams trounce Copiah Academy

GALLMAN — The undefeated Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougarsimproved their record to 18-0 following Saturday night’s 52-36 winover the Copiah County Lady Colonels.
In the varsity boys game, Brookhaven improved to 13-2 with a72-38 victory over Copiah.
The girls game was close in the first half. BA led 12-8 in thefirst quarter and Copiah cut the deficit to three points, 22-19, athalftime. The Lady Cougars exploded for a 16-6 third-quarter run totake a 38-25 lead going into the final frame.
Directing the BA girls with 14 points was Mallory Logan. KelliByrd netted 12 points, grabbed six rebounds and had four assists.Leading off the backboards with 10 rebounds was Kristian Davidson.Jessie Altman and Lauren Smith collected six rebounds apiece.
Carley Clayton paced Copiah with 12 points. Jackie Stowe had 11points.
The Cougars jumped on the Colonels for a 17-3first-quarter lead. At halftime, BA dominated Copiah 38-14.
Cole Hodges and J.M. Winborne directed BA with 15 points apiece.Alex Davis was tops off the backboards with 11 rebounds. Hodges hadfive rebounds.
Will Ervin netted 14 points for Copiah.
Junior High Results
The 13-1 BA girls knocked off Copiah 31-21. Holly Case scored 19points and grabbed six rebounds for the Lady Cougars. Julie Hankinsled Copiah with 8 points.
The seventh grade Lady Cougars whipped the Lady Colonels 47-14.Nicole Smith and Hannah Hickman led the way with eight pointsapiece.
