Services for Mattie E. Smith of Meadville were 10 a.m.,Saturday, May 10, at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel with burial inMidway Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith, 92, died May 7, 2003, at Meadville ConvalescentHome. She was born in Franklin County on July 8, 1910, to Sam S.Stroud and Flora M. McDonald Stroud.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Valley BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband LawarenceSmith Sr.; a daughter; and 12 brothers and sisters.

Survivors are her sons, Bobby Smith of Meadville, LawarenceSmith Jr., of Ruston, La., A.C. Smith of Antioch, Tenn., and BenSmith of Louisville, Texas; and 14 grandchildren; and 21great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
