Services for Fred “Tiny” Newton of Brookhaven are 1 p.m.,Thursday, Oct. 10, at St. Mark M. B. Church with burial in CarverHeights Cemetery.

Visitation is today from 1-6 p.m. at Tyler Funeral Home.

Mr. Newton, 78, died Oct. 5, 2002, at his residence. He was bornin Brookhaven on July 15, 1924, to Sam Newton and Beulah Jones.

He was employed at the Cato Farm for a number of years. He was amember of St. Mark M. B. Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Ruth Newton;his sons, Willie James and John Earl Newton; and his sister,Eleanor Ross.

Survivors are his son, Thomas Daniels of Brookhaven; hisdaughters, Mary King, Carolyn Kees, and Frances Oliver, all ofBrookhaven; his brother, Robert Jones of Brookhaven; and 14grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, and a host of niecesand nephews.
