For their accomplishments, Kyzar and Brady have been namedThe Daily Leader’s Co-Offensive Players of the Week forthe second week of the 2002 campaign. The victory over Loyd Starwas the first time for the Yellow Jackets to beat the Hornets since1991.

“I learned a lot and it kept me in shape,” said Brady, recallingthe military education, with a major in infantry. “It’s harder thanfootball. Football is fun.”

Brady’s exceptional speed gives him a big-play potential onevery reception. He has 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash. That helpedhim score touchdowns on receptions of 90 and 58 yards against LoydStar. He also hooked up with Kyzar on a 65-yard pass play.

Brady didn’t have much time to enjoy the victory at Loyd Star.He was at National Guard drills early the next morning inMcComb.

A Tom Cruise lookalike, Brady explained his favorite Fridaynight passing play. “It’s 31 Loaded X-Fly. Justin fakes a handoffand hits me on a fly route. After I catch it, I get my buttdownfield.”

Brady bench presses 240 pounds. He wants to play collegebaseball and run track. He attended Alexander Junior High and rantrack before moving to Enterprise as a freshman.

Looking at this year’s Enterprise squad, Brady said, “We have agood chance of making the playoffs and going to state.”

Last year Enterprise placed fourth in the Region 4-1A standingsand landed a berth in the state playoffs.

Asked about Kyzar’s passing skills, Brady said, “Justin isaccurate and he has a strong arm.”

Coach Ricky Deere recognizes Brady’s pass-catching ability.”Darren has good hands, good speed and best of all, he has a goodattitude.”

Brady also starts at cornerback on defense. He said he enjoysfollowing the LSU Tigers and watching Peyton Manning quarterbackthe Indianapolis Colts.

Kyzar (5-11, 160) has been a 4-year starter for the YellowJackets. To him, the win over Loyd Star was extra special.

“I had been looking forward to playing Loyd Star since lastyear,” when the Hornets prevailed 41-20, at Enterprise. Kyzarcompleted 4 of 10 passes for 233 yards against Loyd Star lastFriday. Fullback Chase Raiford made a 20-yard reception.

Kyzar said the first touchdown pass against Loyd Star, whichwent 90 yards, wasn’t a trick play. “I checked off at the line ofscrimmage. I saw the cornerback playing up tight, like alinebacker.”

Playing quarterback makes Kyzar a coach and leader on the field, something he enjoys. “I like being in charge. If something goeswrong, it’s always my fault.”

Kyzar said Enterprise’s offensive line is starting to improve.”Our line can block good but you have to stay on them. They have alot of potential.”

Enterprise’s offensive line includes Matt Waldrop at center,Dale Holmes at right guard, Josh Tanner at left guard, BobbyLambert at right tackle, Marshall Morgan at left tackle and BillyReeves at tight end.

Asked about this year’s team, Kyzar said, “Our defense islooking real good. Our offense must cut down on penalties andfumbles. We have a chance to go a long way in the playoffs.”

Kyzar’s favorite play is called Red Roll. “I roll to my rightand Darren is my primary target. He runs a slant-in and aslant-out.”

Like Brady, Kyzar doesn’t think he’s big enough to play collegefootball. He’s a standout shortstop who wants to play collegebaseball.

“Justin started several games as a freshman, probably threestarts,” said Deere. “He throws it pretty well.”

In his spare time, Kyzar enjoys watching the Florida Gators andquarterback Rex Grossman. He follows the Tampa Bay

Buccaneers in the NFL.

Kyzar said he enjoys playing for Deere. “I like playing forCoach Deere. We haven’t had a losing season with him.”
