Services for Octavia Humphrey of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Saturday, Feb. 2, at Avery Chapel A.M.E. Church with burial in St.Paul on the River Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from noon until 6 p.m. at Williams Mortuarywith family hour from 7-8 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Humphrey, 76, died Jan. 27, 2002, at University MedicalCenter. She was born in Jefferson County on Oct. 15, 1925, to JackQueen and Melissa Queen.

She was a retired cafeteria worker for Brookhaven PublicSchools. She was a member of Avery Chapel A.M.E. Church, where shewas president of the stewardess board. She was a member of ElksTemple #698, the Community Club, and the Heroines of Jericho.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, WoodrowHumphrey Sr.; her brothers, Nehemiah, Anderson, and Cameo; hersisters, Mary and Lucy; and one great-grandchild, Marcus.

Survivors are her sons, Jesse Humphrey and Eugene Humphrey, bothof Milwaukee, Wis., Willie Humphrey of Fayette, and Curtis Humphreyof Galveston, Texas; her daughters, Bobbie Jean Bledsoe ofBrookhaven and Carolyn Humphrey of Milwaukee, Ill.; her brother,Jesse Humphrey of New Orleans; and 14 grandchildren and 11great-grandchildren.
