Shirley Ann Harris of Urbana, Ill., died Jan. 22, 2002. She wasborn in Brookhaven on July 27, 1950, to Louis Dalton Jr. andJuanita Godbolt Dalton.
She was employed by the University of Illinois as a postalworker for 23 years and in 1997 received the Chancellor’sDistinguished Staff Award for Excellence in Service. She was amember of Macedonia M. B. Church, where she served as an usher,Sunday school teacher, and youth worker. She enjoyed music,gardening, interior decorating and cooking.
Preceding her in death was her father.
Survivors are her husband, Robert Harris; her mother, JuanitaGodbolt Dalton of Bogue Chitto; her grandfather, Willie Godbolt ofBogue Chitto; her son, Kenneth Dalton; her daughter, LatoniaStovall; her brothers, Louis Dalton III of Savoy, Ill., MarvinDalton of Las Vegas, Keith Ray Dalton of McComb, Lamar Dalton andRicky Dalton, both of Brookhaven, and Roger Dale Dalton of BogueChitto; her sisters, Mary Evelyn “May May” Hall of Bogue Chitto andSharon Jackson of Brookhaven; and two grandchildren, sixstepchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
