Lady Wolves romp; Co-Lin men tumble

SENATOBIA – Guard Tiania Burns pumped in 25 points and grabbed10 rebounds in leading the Co-Lin Lady Wolves to a 68-61 Mondayvictory over the Mississippi Delta Community College women in theNorthwest Tournament. Burns, a 5-7 freshman from Nashville, Tenn.,also made 3 steals and 2 assists.
In the men’s game, Co-Lin blew a 10-point halftime lead and lost83-76 to the Delta Trojans. Directing Delta’s comeback were KenGreen and Kelly Scarver with 19 points each.
Co-Lin resumes play tonight, facing the host Northwest teams,women at 5 and men at 7.
The Lady Wolves (5-0) got 15 points and 11 rebounds fromsophomore post Mindy Livaudais. Freshman post Shaquita Smith added10 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore post Christy Brown pulled down12 rebounds and freshman forward Lindsay Altman grabbed 11boards.
“It seemed like we could never get on track offensively,” saidCo-Lin women’s coach Gwyn Young. “Overall, we got the win after afour and a half hour (bus) trip.”
Saprina Reed’s 15 points paced the Lady Trojans.
The Wolves (2-3) built a 14-point lead in the first half.Coached by Dennis Sims, they led 45-35 at halftime.
Directing Co-Lin was sophomore post Quentin Christian with 20points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore post B.J. Black chipped in 15points and 8 rebounds. Freshman forward Jason Scott added 16 pointsand 11 rebounds. Sophomore playmaker Bruce Smith furnished 13points, 5 assists and 6 rebounds.
The Trojans outscored Co-Lin 48-31 in the second half.
