Services for W. O. Smith of Brookhaven are 1:30 p.m., Friday,Nov. 16, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with burial in the churchcemetery.

Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. and Friday from 8-11:30 a.m.at Brookhaven Funeral Home, and Friday from 12:30 p.m. untilservice time at the church.

Mr. Smith, 91, died Nov. 14, 2001, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. He was born in Lincoln County on Nov. 25, 1909, to LawrenceSmith and Dora Belle Byrd Smith.

He was retired from the Illinois Central Railroad after 46 yearsof service. He was a Mason. He was a member of Pleasant GroveBaptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his first wife,Josie Smith.

Survivors are his wife, Thelma Smith of Brookhaven; his son,Glen Smith of Ridgeland; his daughter, Paulette Richardson ofRidgeland; his stepdaughter, Nelline Reed of Brookhaven; hisbrother, Jesse Smith of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; his sister, AlineWilliams of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; and five grandchildren, sevengreat-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
