BC Bobcats turn back Enterprise

The Bogue Chitto Bobcats looked like a team on a mission Fridaynight as they met the host Enterprise Yellow Jackets. Behind therunning of senior Dominique Addison, the visitors came away with a20-10 victory on Harry Cole Field. Bogue Chitto (10-1) realized themost ever wins in school history.

Addison finished the game with 189 rushing yards and onetouchdown on 16 carries to top the Bobcats’ offense.

The win gave Coach Carl Cole’s squad a school-record 10 winsagainst only one loss and an 8-1 mark and second place finish inRegion 4-1A behind Mize (11-0, 9-0). Enterprise fell to 7-4 and 6-3and finished in fourth place in the division.

“Enterprise was as good as advertised,” said Cole. “This game isalways close and tough and tonight we won”.

Enterprise got on the scoreboard first. Taking the openingkickoff, the Yellow Jackets marched 65 yards in 12 plays. PierreHathorne capped the drive with a 13-yard run at the 5:27 mark.Scott Sasser added the PAT for a 7-0 lead.

Bogue Chitto answered with the only other score of the firsthalf. Beginning their first possession on their own 41-yard

line, the Bobcats marched down the field in only five plays.Denard Ferguson dove into the end zone from one yard out andLindsey Jackson added the PAT to tie the score at 7-7 at the 3:24mark.

Enterprise regained the lead with 6:34 to play in the thirdquarter. A fumble recovery by Josh Pruden gave the Yellow Jacketsthe ball at the Bobcats’ 49-yard line. Nine plays later, Sasserkicked a 22-yard field goal for a 10-7 lead.

Bogue Chitto again answered quickly. Taking over on theEnterpise 49-yard line following a miscue on the kickoff, theBobcats needed only five plays to reach paydirt. Addison ran infrom the 18-yard line with 4:12 to go in the period. A two-pointconversion attempt failed leaving the score at 13-10.

The final points of the night came with 0:40 to play in thethird quarter. A perfectly thrown pass from Bogue Chittoquarterback Jacob Leggett to Rico Lewis resulted in a 75-yardtouchdown. Ernie Johnston added the PAT to close out thescoring.

“That big play hurt us,” said Enterprise assistant coach ScottLeggett. “The coverage was there. The pass was just right on themoney.”

The Jackets still qualify for the state playoffs which startFriday.

“Even though we lost, we’re still proud of having a winningseason and making the playoffs,” said Enterprise coach Ricky Deere.Bogue Chitto has a fine team.”

Ferguson aided Addison and the Bobcats by picking up 84 yardsand a touchdown on 17 carries. Leggett also had rushingyardage.

Through the air, Leggett completed five of nine passes for 140yards and a touchdown. Cody Wallace had three receptions for 52yards. Lewis had the one catch for 75 yards and Ferguson also had areception. Addison punted once for 51 yards.

The Bobcats picked up 16 first downs. They fumbled twice, losingboth, and were penalized seven times for 85 yards.

Gerard Vaughn led the Yellow Jackets’ running game with 58 yardson 10 carries. Shermaine Vaughn added 57 yards on 11 carries.Hathorne contributed 37 yards and a touchdown. Bobby Smith had 36yards.

Enterprise quarterback Justin Kyzar completed six of 12 passesfor 92 yards. Monti Crotwell had three receptions for 74 yards.Hathorne, Kody Burns and Rufus Allen caught one pass each. Crotwellpunted four times for a 33-yard average.

The Yellow Jackets registered 16 first downs, lost one of twofumbles and were whistled for 105 yards on 10 penalties.

Both teams enter the playoffs this week. The Bobcats (10-1,8-1), No. 2 in Region 4-1A, return home to host Division 3-1AUnion. Enterpise (7-4, 6-3) travels to Division 3-1A championPuckett.
