La. teen dies in wreck here

A Louisiana teenager was killed Thursday evening when thefour-wheeler he was on collided head-on with a truck on WakefieldLane, according to authorities.
Howard Eugene Barre Jr., 19, of Vidalia, La., died of multipleinjuries after he was thrown from the four-wheeler he was driving,said Lincoln County Deputy Coroner Clay McMorris.
Barre, who was apparently visiting his girlfriend and family,who were not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:40p.m. by McMorris.
According to the accident report, Barre was traveling north onWakefield Road around 6:30 p.m., when he collided with a 1984Chevrolet truck, driven by James T. Lynch, 16, of 1641 Gene Road.The truck was heading south on the same road near FranklinCounty.
“He (Lynch) met two four-wheelers, one ahead of the other onWakefield Lane, and tried to stop before the first four-wheeler hithis truck,” Lincoln County Sheriff Lynn Boyte said.
The two juveniles on the second four-wheeler and the driver ofthe truck were not injured in the accident.
Boyte said he was saddened by the accident and hopes more do notfollow as deer season opens up next month.
“We urge people not to ride four-wheelers on roadways. It may befun, but it can be deadly and we don’t want that,” he said.
