Services for Pauline Case Britt of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Saturday, Sept. 1, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inMacedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Britt, 88, died Aug. 30, 2001, at her daughter’s residence.She was born in Brookhaven on Oct. 16, 1912, to Tommy Case andBarbara Durr Case.
She was a retired school teacher and basketball coach with theLincoln County School System, where she taught for 44 years. Shewas awarded Teacher of the Year, STAR teacher, and was listed inWho’s Who Among America’s Educators. She coached the 1957 WestLincoln girls basketball team to an Overall State Championship. In1979 she was inducted into the Copiah-Lincoln Community CollegeAthletic Hall of Fame. She was a member of Macedonia BaptistChurch, where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Pearlie A.Britt Sr.; her daughter, Betty Britt Bessonette; her grandson,Mickey Cain; her sisters, Minnie Case Hammonds, Amanda Case Britt,Radie Case Case, Nellie Case Watts, and Clara Belle Case Smith; andher brothers, Edgar Case and Julian Case.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Virgie and EddieBeach of Brookhaven; her sons and daughters-in-law, Pearlie andVenna Britt and Gene “Moochie” and Margaret Britt, all ofBrookhaven; her grandchildren, Harold, Larry and Ronnie Cain, Kyleand Russ Britt, and Brad Britt and Carol Bullock; and eightgreat-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
