McComb whips Brook in DYB Majors District

SUMMIT – The McComb All-Stars whipped Brookhaven’s AmericanLeague All-Stars 10-3 Monday night in the Dixie Youth BaseballMajor League District Six Tournament at Windsor Gay Youth SportsComplex. McComb took an early lead and never trailed as thedouble-elimination tournament got under way.
Natchez beat Summit 5-3 in the other opening round last night.Summit will play Brookhaven at 6 tonight in an elimination game andMcComb plays Natchez at 8.

McComb plated 3 runs on 2 hits and an error in the firstinning. Brookhaven regrouped and scored twice on 4 hits, leavingthe bases loaded. For the game, Brookhaven left nine runnersstranded on base.
Brookhaven didn’t get another hit until the fourthinning, a solo homer by Keith Franklin.
Elliott Warren doubled in the first frame. Franklin hada first-inning sacrifice fly. Daniel Watson had an RBI single inthe first and another hit in the fourth. Josh Coone and BrandonSmith singled.
Brookhaven loaded the bases in the sixth but came upempty. Travis Olson and Zach Watson had singles in thesixth.
“We just didn’t the ball,” said Brookhaven managerRonnie Watson. “We had some good hits but we didn’t haveenough.”
On the mound, Zach Watson started for Brookhaven andwent 5 innings. He allowed 9 runs on 8 hits, struck out 6, walked 1and hit 3 batters.

Dylan Boyd pitched McComb’s victory. In 6 innings Boydfanned 8 batters, walked 3 and allowed 3 runs on 8hits.
Boyd smashed a 3-run homer in the third. He also had anRBI double. Catcher Bubba Boggs singled twice.
