City man hurt in accident at reservoir

A Brookhaven man was listed in stable condition at UniversityMedical Center today after being injured in a boating accident atRoss Barnett Reservoir early Saturday afternoon.
Don Peters of Brookhaven suffered several fractured vertebrae, afractured pelvis, a collapsed lung and a brain bruise in theaccident, according to Linda Peters, his mother.
Details on the accident are sketchy, she said.
“He’s alert enough to answer questions, but doesn’t rememberanything at this point. He’s heavily sedated,” Mrs. Peters said.”We take it as a good sign that he will be moved to a private roomtoday as soon as one becomes available.”
The injuries will likely require surgery, Mrs. Peters said, anddoctors are currently planning back surgery.
“We would just appreciate everyone keeping him in theirprayers,” she said.
