West Lincoln rallies to defeat Enterprise

West Lincoln defeated Enterprise 8-7 Tuesday night in a Division7-1A showdown at West Lincoln. The Yellow Jackets took a 6-4 leadbut the Bears rallied for four runs to pull out the victory,sparked by first baseman Cody Wallace’s grand-slam homer.
The triumph secured second place in the division and granted theBears (11-8, 5-3) a second straight trip to the state playoffs.They will visit the Division 6-1A winner, April 19. The secondplayoff game will be played at West Lincoln April 21.
In the decisive sixth, West Lincoln’s Adam Rushing drew a walkand Daniel Leggett reached on an error. Corey Easley walked to loadthe bases. Jamie Sisco got an RBI on a walk, making it 6-5.
The rally continued as Wallace slugged a 1-out, grand-slamhomer.
“It was a big comeback for us,” said West Lincoln coach AndrewRedd. “We had to hold Enterprise off in the top of the seventh.Both pitchers were struggling.”
Enterprise scored one run in the top of the seventh and left thebases loaded.
Easley was the winning pitcher with four strikeouts and sixwalks. Jamie McCaffery absorbed the loss with eight strikeouts andnine walks.
West Lincoln with got a solo home run from Jeremy Branning. CodyMitchell, Jamie Sisco and Wallace singled.
For Enterprise, Scott Johnson homered. Darren Brady singledthree times. McCaffery hit a pair of singles. Monti Crotwell andScott Sasser hi safely.
In the junior varsity game, Enterprise clipped West Lincoln 4-2.Daniel Allen took the loss with eight strikeouts. Josh Rushing ledwith a double and single. Seth Brown, Adam Case and Allen hitsafely.
