Bogue Chitto girls gain split with Lady Jaguars

SUMMIT – North Pike and Bogue Chitto split a doubleheader Mondaynight in girls fastpitch softball. The Lady Jags pounded BogueChitto 11-4 in the opener. The Lady Bobcats returned the favor inthe nightcap with an 11-5 win. North Pike improved to 6-10 overallwhile Bogue Chitto is 2-1.
North Pike 11, Bogue Chitto 4
Heather Williamson struck out 11 to pace North Pike. BrittanyAlexander had a double and Sonia Freeman and Erin Boyd each hadsingles for the Lady Jaguars.
Randi Moak led Bogue Chitto with 2 singles. Jessica Melton andMarquita Ratcliff had singles for the Lady Bobcats.
Moak (0-1) was the losing pitcher. She struck out 8 and walked14.

The Lady Bobcats scored eight runs in the second inning en routeto the win. Moak had 3 hits, including an inside-the-park home run.Ratcliff also homered, a shot over the centerfield fence. Meltonand Kayla Smith each had singles for Bogue Chitto.
Freeman had a triple, and Boyd and Alexander each had singlesfor North Pike. Seventh grader Meleah Brown (1-0) struck out 7 toearn her first victory of the year. Alexander suffered theloss.
