North Pike sweeps Enterprise Jackets

SUMMIT – The North Pike Jaguars made it a clean sweep Fridaynight with a pair of victories over the Enterprise Yellow Jackets.The boys won 53-33.

In the girls game, the Lady Jaguars improved to 17-3 on theseason with a 36-26 win over the Lady Yellow Jackets.

Sabrina Ard led North Pike with 13 points and eight rebounds inthe defensive struggle. Pam Johnson added nine points and sevenboards for the Lady Jags.

“It was a ragged game on both sides,” said North Pike girls headcoach John Stephens. “We couldn’t get into the flow the entirenight. You have to give coach (Billy) Vaughn credit for that. Histeam played tough defense and kept us off-balance.”

North Pike led 23-17 at halftime, and outscored Enterprise 13-9in the final half of the low scoring game.

“John said it all,” said Enterprise head man Billy Vaughn. “Wejust couldn’t generate any offense and they (North Pike) did justenough to win it.”

Lacey Palomarez was the only player in double figures forEnterprise (8-5) with 13 points. Joyce Allen and Monica Leggettgrabbed 6 rebounds for Enterprise. Allen had 4 assists and 3steals.

The Jaguars (10-9) used a pressing defense to holdEnterprise in single digits in two quarters.

“We had good execution tonight,” said North Pike headcoach Cassels Wilson. “We still missed a lot of shots. I was proudof our young kids. They played well. This should give them a lot ofconfidence down the stretch.”

Nic Wilson led North Pike with 14 points, including two3-pointers. Josh Matthews added 13 points and pulled down eightrebounds for the Jaguars.

Pierre Harthorne was the top scorer for the Enterprise(6-6) with 12 points. On the backboards, Sheremain Vaughn led thJackets with 8 rebounds. Kary Brown had 6 boards and 4 steals.Rufus Allen made 3 assists. The Jackets trailed 24-18 at halftimeand were outscored 11-4 in the third quarter.

“We just couldn’t seem to get anything going,”said headcoach Billy Vaughn. Give credit to North Pike, they played goodpressure defense.”
