Willis E. “Red” Boyd
Services for Willis E. “Red” Boyd of Jayess are 11 a.m.,Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Topeka Baptist Church with burial in RobertsMemorial Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday, Dec. 19, from 4-9 p.m. and Wednesday from8-10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home.
Mr. Boyd, 74, died Dec. 18, 2000, at his residence. He was bornin Jayess on April 15, 1926, to George W. and Bessie HowellBoyd.
He was a retired construction worker. He was a member of TopekaBaptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, five brothers, andthree sisters.
Survivors are his wife, Katie Mae Boyd of Jayess; his sons,Willis Jerome Boyd of McComb, and Willie T. Coon and Pete Boyd,both of Jayess; his daughters, Bessie Turner and Jewel Dykes, bothof Jayess, and Margie Buchanan of Las Vegas; his brothers, GeorgeBoyd of Jayess, Alton Boyd of Franklinton, La., and James Boyd ofArkansas; and 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Lillian Lockhart Finch
Services for Lillian Lockhart Finch of Magee were 11 a.m.,Tuesday, Dec. 19, at First Baptist Church with burial in Magee CityCemetery.
Mrs. Finch, 90, died Dec. 17, 2000, of heart failure at MageeGeneral Hospital. She was a native of Magee. She was a graduate ofMagee High School and William Carey College and held a master’sdegree from the University of Southern Mississippi.
She had taught English, speech, and journalism at Magee HighSchool and at Perkinston Junior College. She was a member of FirstBaptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and had served aschurch librarian for 25 years. She wrote short stories and poetry,which were published in several magazines.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Ernest A. Finch.
Survivors are her daughter, Sherrie Finch McCall of Magee; herson, Michael Lockhart Finch of Monticello; her sister, MignonneSaulters of Jackson; and seven grandchildren and fourgreat-grandchildren.
Dorothy Bailey Owens
Services for Dorothy Bailey Owens of Crystal Springs are 2 p.m.,Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial inRiverwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Owens, 75, died Dec. 15, 2000, of heart failure atWhispering Pines Hospice in Ridgeland. She was born in Brookhavenon June 7, 1925, to Vence Bailey Sr. and Irma Greenlee Bailey.
She was a retired ceramic artist. She had worked for the city ofJackson, where she was over the parks division. She was a member ofthe Baptist faith.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and her husband, RileyOwens.
Survivors are her daughters, Janet O. Bourne of Crystal Springsand Patsy O. Kirkwood of Montgomery, Texas; her brothers, VenceBailey Jr. of Brookhaven and Robert Earl Bailey of Washingtonstate; her sister, Pauline Moak of Brookhaven; and threegrandchildren and one great grandchild.

William Haworth
