Junior linebacker Cody Covington of Loyd Star was named theDivision 6-2A Defensive Player of the Year on the 2000 All-DivisionFootball Team. Covington, a junior, finished with 137 tackles andone interception this year as the Hornets finished 8-3 and advancedto the state playoffs.

The MVP Offensive Player honor went to Lee Hall of St. Andrew’s.Antonio Carroll of Richland was selected as the division’s MostValuable Player. Richland won the division title and Loyd Star wasrunner-up.

Loyd Star players selected to the all-division First Teaminclude seniors Chase Coley, Casey Warren and Brad Britt followedby juniors Adam Speeg, Seth Britt and Derrick Johnson.

Named to the all-division team from Wesson were senior ChrisThornton, juniors Marcus Corley, Robert Bishop and Billy Ray Millerand sophomore Russell Robinson.
